Algeria and Cuba Tuesday signed a health cooperation agreement at their 20th Joint Cooperation Committee held in Algiers.

The agreement was signed between visiting Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, and Algerian Health Minister, Abdelmalek Boudiaf.

Both sides agreed to upgrade legal aspects pertaining to oncology, nephrology, urology, ophthalmology, as well as maternal and child healthcare.

"This agreement will add new impetus to the ancient friendly relations between both countries," Diaz told reporters.

Diaz also conveyed his country's willingness to fortify bilateral cooperation in the technology transfer and pharmaceutical drugs manufacturing fields.

Furthermore, he hailed "the new strategic vision and fruitful cooperation between Algeria and Cuba."

While in Algiers, Diaz held talks with two high ranking Algerian officials, including Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, and Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.

The 21th session of the Algerian-Cuban Joint Cooperation Committee will be held in Havana in September 2016. Endit
