"Captain America: Civil War" rules China's box office

Disney and Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" beat domestic romance "Finding Mr.Right 2" in the week ending May 8, earning 624 million yuan (95.7 million U.S. dollars) after opening on May 6, China Film News reported Monday.

The blockbuster superhero sequel starring Chris Evans had the fourth best opening ever among imported films in China, with strong debut earnings of 180 million yuan on Friday.

"Finding Mr. Right 2" dropped to second place after one week of leading the box office. The film, released on April 29, rang up 282 million yuan in sales in the week.

Disney's "The Jungle Book" grossed 105 million yuan to land in third place after its release on April 15.

In fourth place was "Phantom of the Theater," a domestic thriller that opened on April 29, making 30 million yuan in the past week.

Rounding out the top five was "Miss Partners," which took in 25 million yuan in the week. Endi
