Inflation remains below target in Albania

Xinhua, May 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Albania's inflation rate in April remains below its central bank's target of 3 percent for the third consecutive month, raising concerns about a deflationary tendency, local media reported on Tuesday.

The Albanian government and the Bank of Albania said the declining inflation rate is a consequence of falling market prices for oil, minerals and raw material, Albanian Daily News reported, citing the Albanian National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) as saying.

The result can also be attributed to income reduction and insecurity of spending and investing, according to some experts.

Albania claimed no risk of deflation, saying economic developments have been seen, but the World Bank has lately warned of such a risk. Endi
