China's science goes on display

Xinhua, May 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's major science projects and large scientific equipment will be displayed to the public during an annual celebration of science that commences on Saturday.

During the 16th Science Week, 12 major projects and equipment will be presented to visitors in Beijing through models, pictures and videos, said Bao Xianhua, an official with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

There will also be a researchers' briefing on S&T innovation, Bao said.

More than 2,000 activities will be held in all parts of the country during the week, while various agencies like Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Environmental Protection will host over 400 more.

This year, Science Week will focus on disseminating knowledge in communities, enterprises, colleges and universities, and remote areas, Bao said, adding that it will help make S&T resources and high-end scientific equipment more accessible to the public.

Since it began in 2001, the Science Week has hosted more than 110,000 activities, with participants exceeding 1.2 billion. Endi
