Verratti to miss PSG's rest season for Italy's Euro 2016

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain revealed Friday that Italian midfielder Marco Verratti will undergo groin surgery in ten days, bowing out the rest season and Euro 2016.

In agreement with PSG, Verratti, who's been suffering groin problem for several weeks, decided to undergo surgery in Doha on 16 May at the Aspetar Centre - the club' s official medical partner.

The 23-year-old, who recently extended his contract with the capital club until 2020, is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks.

As a result, Verratti will play no part in Paris Saint-Germain's final matches of the season, or Euro 2016, to be held in France between 10 June and 10 July.

"We don't want to take any risks with Marco. He is an exceptional player," said PSG coach Laurent Blanc.

Les Parisiens now have three remaining matches in Ligue 1 before the season wraps up on May 14, in additional to a French Cup final against Marseille on May 23. Endit
