Nigerian minister quits facebook, twitter accounts

Xinhua, May 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika on Friday announced that he had quit his facebook account, twitter handle and other social media platforms.

Sirika, who disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, also warned the public against falling into the hands of criminals who use his name to dupe people on social media.

He said the over 20 facebook accounts and twitter handles bearing his name and pictures, announcing the distribution of motorcycles and other items were not created by him.

"I want to bring it to the attention of the public that I no longer have facebook account, twitter handle and other social media platforms and I don't give people jobs on internet," he said.

"There are currently over 20 different facebook accounts and other social media platforms created by criminals to dupe gullible Nigerians; those were not created by me," the minister added.

"I don't distribute motorcycles on social media; I do that at my constituency headquarters and senatorial district headquarters openly and not on Facebook," he told reporters. Endit
