Developing bilateral ties with China priority in Vietnam's foreign policy: president

Developing friendly cooperation with China is a priority in Vietnam's foreign policy, said Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang on Thursday.

At the meeting with Chinese Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong in Vietnam's capital Hanoi, Quang said Vietnam attaches importance to promoting the friendly relations with China.

Vietnam is willing to join hands with China to strengthen high-ranking exchanges, enhance mutual political trust, expand people-to-people exchanges, especially in border areas, said the Vietnamese president.

Vietnam will also work with China in promoting trade as well as cooperation in defense and law enforcement, bringing comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to a new height, Quang added.

Chinese Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong, for his part, said that under the guidance of leaders of the two parties and states, the bilateral relations between China and Vietnam have kept fine development momentum.

Maintaining and developing the traditional friendship between the two parties and countries are in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples, Hong said.

China is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to implement consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, maintain frequent high-ranking exchanges, strengthen strategic communication, enhance mutual political trust, promote pragmatic cooperation in various areas, properly manage and control differences, as well as further promote bilateral ties, said the Chinese ambassador.
