Russia, China remain Slovenia's biggest trade partners outside EU in 2015

Russia remained the biggest market for Slovenia outside the EU in 2015, and China was Slovenia's biggest import partner outside the EU in the same year, according to Slovenia's National Statistics Office on Thursday.
Slovenia's trade with EU countries represents almost 80 percent of its total international trade. The share of Slovenia's exports to Russia stood at 14.3 percent of the total exports to non-EU countries.
Slovenia exported last year a total of 5.54 billion euros (6.32 billion U.S. dollars) in goods to non-EU countries, with Russia leading the way with 792 million euros. Exports of pharmaceuticals represented the biggest share of the exports to Russia, standing at 34.6 percent.
In terms of the share of exports from Slovenia to non-EU countries, Russia is followed closely by Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the United States.
On the other hand, among non-EU countries, Slovenia imported the most goods from China, with the share standing at 16.9 percent or 758.5 million euros. Total imports from non-EU countries last year stood at 4.49 billion euros.
Imports from China increased five-fold between 2004 when Slovenia jointed the EU and 2015, according to the statistics office. (1 euro = 1.15 U.S.dollars) Endit
