Nigeria plans successful outing in Rio Olympics: official

Xinhua, May 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has designed plans for Nigeria to have a successful outing at the forthcoming 2016 Rio Olympics, an official said.

The body would enter the final stages of preparations for the competition once funds were made available by the government, Tunde Popoola, Secretary of the committee, told reporters in Lagos on Tuesday.

He assured that Team Nigeria would work hard to live up to expectations and to wipe away the memories of the 2012 Olympics in London.

According to him, the program for the athletes from now to Rio is set.

"If the funds come in today all the activities leading to Rio will start, we don' t have to wait for anything, but while the funds were not really available there is nothing anybody can do about it, but it is coming," he added.

The Olympic Games would hold from Aug. 5 to Aug. 18 in Brazil. Endit
