Morocco designs approach to implement development plans

Xinhua, May 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Morocco has designed an inclusive and integrated approach to implement sustainable development goals (SDGs), the country's senior official said here on Tuesday.

"To realize a proactive vision, Morocco has mapped out an inclusive approach," said Omar Hilale, Morocco's permanent representative to the United Nations, while addressing the opening session of the National Consultation on the SDG implementation in Morocco.

To ensure its own development, Morocco has adopted several strategies in various fields such as renewable energy, infrastructure, poverty relief, health care, education and transportation, he noted.

Hilale underlined the crucial importance of strengthening the capacities of developing countries to monitor the implementation of SDGs.

During the three-day session, several panels will be organized, involving five themes, namely, Humanity, the Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnerships, which will focus on the process of adopting SDGs as national priorities.

The consultation will also enrich the contribution of Morocco to the High Level Policy Forum on Sustainable Development, to be held in New York from July 11 to 20 this year, under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Endit
