The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Monday.

-- Ethiopian Christians across the nation celebrated Easter Festival on Sunday.

Ethiopian Christian religious fathers called on followers to strengthen activities underway to cut short the current drought in the country while celebrating Easter.

The religious fathers also said, the followers should strengthen their contribution to peace and development of the country. (Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation/EBC)

-- Of the 18 African countries who have joined International Network of Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), Ethiopia is by far the leader in terms of bamboo. Two-thirds of the bamboo in Africa is situated in the upwardly-mobile state where the industry has grown from making toothpicks to flooring and curtains.

Bamboo has become an economic stronghold in parts of the world, with an estimated global economy valued at 60 billion dollars a year, according to the International Network of Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), an intergovernmental organization promoting bamboo and rattan.
