Xu wins all-China final to capture 4th Asian Cup title

Xinhua, April 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

World number three Xu Xin of China defeated his Olympic champion teammate Zhang Jike 4-2 (4-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-8, 6-11, 11-6) to win his fourth Asian Cup title here on Saturday.

"Dubai is really a lucky place for me as I won most of my matches here," said Xu, holding his gold medal and a golden Arabian coffeepot called "dallah" as a trophy in his hand.

"I felt more relaxed while Zhang seemed to feel more pressure. I think that was the reason I prevailed at last," said the 26-year-old Xu.

Wong Chun Ting from Hong Kong, China, beat Gao Ning of Singapore 4-2 (11-4, 10-12, 9-11, 11-2, 11-6, 11-9) to take the bronze medal.

"I am very excited about my bronze medal, but I would not say I played my best. I think I can still improve," said the 24-year-old doubles specialist. Endit
