Deportivo Tachira eye Copa Libertadores last eight

Xinhua, April 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

A second-half goal from Yuber Mosquera handed Venezuela's Deportivo Tachira a 1-0 home win over Mexico's Pumas in their Copa Libertadores round of 16 first-leg clash on Tuesday.

Mosquera fired in a low shot after being set up by Carlos Cermeno's cross just after halftime.

Pumas were dealt a further blow when Marcelo Alatorre was dismissed in the 69th minute after picking up his second yellow card.

The result at the Pueblo Nuevo stadium in San Cristobal means Deportivo only need to draw their return match in Mexico next Tuesday to progress to the quarterfinals of South America's top club competition.

In Tuesday's only other match, Argentina's Huracan were held to a goalless draw by Colombia's Atletico Nacional in Buenos Aires. Endit
