China, Indonesia to further pragmatic cooperation

China and Indonesia on Tuesday held the fifth deputy prime ministerial bilateral dialogue mechanism meeting, vowing to further pragmatic cooperation.
Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Luhut Panjaitan, the visiting Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Law and Security Affairs, co-chaired the meeting in Beijing.
China-Indonesia ties have seen sound development and the two countries have maintained frequent high-level visits, while expanding cooperation in various fields, Yang said, noting that the two sides communicate closely and support each other in international affairs.
Yang called on both sides to regard bilateral ties from a strategic and long-term perspective to strengthen strategic cooperation in political and security issues.
Yang also called for more pragmatic cooperation in various fields to improve the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership.
Luhut said Indonesia is willing to make joint efforts with China to cooperate more in political, economic and security issues.
Both sides agreed to integrate development strategies to promote cooperation in railway, electric power, mining, aerospace, agriculture and fishery.
The two sides agreed to have more security cooperation in the fields of defense, anti-terrorism, law enforcement, drug control and the Internet.
They agreed to strengthen marine cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and benefit.
In addition, the two sides agreed to push forward East Asia cooperation and promote the continued and stable development of China-ASEAN ties; and coordinate and cooperate more in international organizations and multilateral mechanisms so as to contribute more to regional and global peace, stability and development.
