Parcel delivery, ocean shipping major channels for infringing goods: report

Xinhua, April 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

An increasing number of goods that infringe intellectual property rights (IPR) are being sent by courier or ocean shipping, a fresh report indicates.

Chinese customs intercepted about 20,000 batches of inbound and outbound parcels suspected of IPR infringement in 2015, a year-on-year increase of 2.7 percent, according to the report released Tuesday by the General Administration of Customs (GAC).

The report also shows that 68 million items that infringed IPR were stopped from entering or leaving the country via ocean routes, 97.6 percent of all goods intercepted last year.

Xie Xinhong from GAC said that customs will continue to support the IPR protection campaign. Endi
