Tokyo shares ended the trading Monday lower as investors here tended to lock in recent gains after a four-day surge.
The day's turnover was about 2,260.0 billion yen (around 20.31 billion U.S. dollars).

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended almost unchanged on Monday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched down 0.94 points, or 0.05 percent, to settle at 2,014.55. Trading volume stood at 392.81 million shares worth 4.31 trillion won (3.75 billion U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Monday down 0.10 percent against the previous trading day.
The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 1.15 points to 1,117.13. A total of 41,400 shares worth about 188 million Lao kip (about 23,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 591.58 points on Monday, down 0.9 points, or 0.15 percent, against last Friday's closing session.
A total of 51.867 million shares worth 1.269 trillion VND (58.05 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Monday. ----
JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 35.87 points, or 0.73 percent, to a level of 4,878.86 on Monday.
Some 274,111 transactions were booked, involving 5.20 billion shares worth 5.84 trillion rupiah (about 441.25 million U.S. dollars).

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 80.92 points on Monday, down 0.02 points, or 0.03 percent, against the previous closing session.
A total of over 48.583 million shares worth some 672.664 billion Vietnamese dong (some 30.16 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday, a decrease of 6.31 percent in volume and an increase of 6.7 percent in value against the previous closing session.

SHANGHAI -- Chinese stocks opened lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.31 percent to open at 2,949.97 points.
The smaller Shenzhen index opened 0.29 percent lower at 10,122.13 points. The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.39 percent to open at 2,128.66 points.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 40.15 points, or 1.37 percent, to close at 2,900.28.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,714.51 down 3.45 points or 0.20 percent, and the Emas was at 11,902.89 down 35.60 points or 0.30 percent.
Turnover declined to 1.85 billion shares valued at 1.64 billion ringgit Malaysia(419.38 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.64 billion shares valued at 1.65 billion ringgit Malaysia(423.08 million U.S. dollars) on last Friday.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved down 2.10 points, or 0.15 percent to close at 1,408.71 points.
