The following are news highlights in major South African media outlets on Saturday.

-- President Jacob Zuma's office said Friday that three ministers linked to the Nkandla upgrades had been reprimanded.

However, The opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane immediately called on Mr. Zuma to make public, as soon as possible, the letters of reprimand. (Business Day).

-- The National Energy Regulator of South Africa wants to force electricity utility Eskom to shift the risks around coal costs from consumers on to either itself or the mines themselves.

In practice, it is planning to partially regulate the price of coal in the South African market where Eskom is a dominate coal consumer. (City Press).

-- Letters of reprimand have been sent to three ministers involved in the project to upgrade President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla homestead, the presidency said on Friday.

The letters were sent to Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi, his predecessor Geoff Doidge, who is now South Africa's high commissioner to Sri Lanka, and former police minister Nathi Mthethwa, who is now the minister of arts and culture. (Mail & Guardian) Enditem
