Mali has arrested a suspected mastermind of last year's Radisson Blu hotel attack in the capital Bamako that left over 20 people dead, security authorities said Friday.

Fawaz Ould Ahmeida, the suspect, was arrested Thursday in a neighborhood in Bamako. Explosives and guns were also recovered in his house, which, security sources say, the suspect is planning to use to launch fresh attack this weekend in the capital.

The suspect, a Mauritanian, is also suspected of involving in a hotel attack last month in Bamako where the EU military training session is based. He is found linked to another hotel attack in Bamako in March 2015, which killed 5 people.

Ahmeida is suspected of plotting a hotel attack in central Mali in August 2015, in which 13 people died.

The Radisson Blu hotel attack on Nov. 20 last year left at least 22 people dead, including three Chinese. Enditem
