Stimac quits leading Iran's Sepahan soccer team

Xinhua, April 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iran's Sepahan head coach Igor Stimac resigned from his post after suffering a dramatic loss to Saudi Arabian Al Ittihad, Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Iranian soccer team was defeated against Al Ittihad 4-0 in the AFC Champions League Group A at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

The result forced Sepahan out of the competitions.

Stimac replaced Hossein Faraki in November but was forced to withdraw from Isfahan-based team after poor runs of results even in Iran's professional league.

Titleholder Sepahan currently stands 11 in the Iranian professional league. Endit
