Cape Verde police seize 280 kg of cocaine, arrest 9 suspects

Police in Cape Verde said Tuesday they seized 280 kg of cocaine aboard a fishing boat and arrested nine suspects, including foreigners,

Police director Patricio Varela told reporters that four Brazilians and one Russian were arrested during a raid on Sunday morning on the boat named Prince III off the southern island of Fogo.

As well as cocaine, large sums of foreign cash and weapons were found in the boat.

Police say the boat was to transport the drugs within the Cape Verdian waters.

Three other suspects were later arrested on Santiago island.

Police say investigations are ongoing to identify more suspects. Endit
