Sun Yang voted 2015 Chinese Most Influential Athlete

Swimming superstar Sun Yang was voted as the 2015 Chinese Most Influential Athlete here on Friday as he wrapped up two gold medals and one silver medal at FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Sun was crowned in 400m and 800m freestyle at last year's World Championships, with another silver medal in 200m freestyle event. He was also voted as the Best Male Athlete of the tournament.

"Very honored to hear that. Thanks for experts' recognition. 2016 is more important than 2015, and I have to do more. Fighting for the dream ahead!" Sun wrote on his Sina Weibo, a twitter-like social tool in China.

Swimmer Ning Zetao and sprinter Su Bingtian ranked second and third respectively in the vote.

Founded by China Sports Publications Corporation and Tencent, the ranking aims at providing references in terms of Chinese sports industry through big data analysis.

According to organizers, some other rankings concerning sports events, professional clubs, sports corporations and sports media will be released in the next few months. Endit
