Mexico in the same group as Germany at Rio 2016

Defending Olympic champions Mexico are bundled with Germany, South Korea and Fiji in Group C in the men's soccer tournament in the Rio Olympic Games, according to the draw held on Thursday.

Hosts Brazil will try to win the title at home, the only prize missing from their bountiful history.

The Brazilian squad will lead Group A which also includes South Africa, Iraq and Denmark.

Group B includes Colombia, Nigeria, Sweden and Japan, while Group D includes Argentina, Honduras, Algeria and Portugal.

In the women's tournament, Brazil will lead Group E that includes China, Sweden and South Africa. Group F has Canada, Austria, Zimbabwe and Germany, while Group G features Colombia, the United States, New Zealand and France.

Rio 2016 soccer tournaments will be held from Aug. 3 to 20 in six stadiums spread over five cities: Maracana and Engenhao in Ciudad Maravillosa, Mane Garrincha National Stadium (Brasilia), Mineirao (Belo Horizonte), Arena de Amazonia (Manaus), Arena Fonte Nova (Salvador) and Arena Corinthians (Sao Paulo).
