Burkina cyclist Sorgho wins second stage in Togo cycling race

Sorgho Mathias, cyclist from Burkina Faso, won on Wednesday the second stage of the 25th Togo international cycling race that kicked off on Monday and is scheduled to end on April 17.

The Burkina Faso cyclist pedaled the 73 km stage, from Sokode to Kara, in 1 hour 50 minutes and 51 seconds, at a speed of 49.05 kmh.

He came ahead Mohindo Klaviro from Democratic republic of Congo, while Minougou Noufou from Burkina Faso came third in pedaling the distance in 1 hour, 52 minutes and 13 seconds.

Sorgho Mathias thus took hold of the yellow jersey from Ivorian Sanogo Abou, winner, on Tuesday, of the 141 km long first stage, Lome-Atakpame, of the six stages tour.

The Ivorian pedaled in 3 hours, 27 minutes and 12 seconds the first stage, roughly at a speed of 40.08 kmh.

The third stage Kabou-Tchamba of 116 km long is schedules on Thursday, following a 53 km long transshipment.

In total 56 cyclists compete in the 25th edition of the 639.5 km long international cycling tour of Togo.

They are from nine countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Democratic republic of Congo, Senegal, France and Togo. Endit
