British Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton on Wednesday got a taste of India's wildlife by visiting the Kaziranga National Park in the northeastern state of Assam, home to two-thirds of the world's Indian one-horned rhinos.
The Royal couple took an open jeep safari in the forest and saw rhinos, buck deer, buffaloes and many other animals before going to two camps mostly inhabitated by rhinos and tigers in the park, officials told the media.
The second-in-line to the British throne and his wife, who are currently on a six-day tour of India and Bhutan, reached Assam Tuesday evening after a luncheon session with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the iconic Hyderabad House in Delhi.
"A royal summer in Delhi! PM @narendramodi receives the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Hyderabad House," Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup had tweeted.
From Assam, Prince William and his wife will go to Bhutan and return to India again to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra, some 250 km from the national capital, which his mother late Princess Diana visited in 1992, before wrapping up their tour. Endit
