Singapore stocks close 2.69 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 75.76 points or 2.69 percent to close at 2,890.41.

A total of 1.55 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.39 billion Singapore dollars (1.03 billion U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 276 to 132, while 503 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 5.41 points, or 0.19 percent, to close at 2,814.65 on Tuesday. Endit
