Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Asylbek Jeenbekov tendered resignation here on Wednesday after his elder brother, Sooronbay Jeenbekov, was nominated as candidate of prime minister, according to the parliament press service.
Asylbek Jeenbekov said at a meeting that he decided to resign in order to avoid suspicion for his brother's election.
One day after Temir Sariyev made a verbal resignation from the post of the prime minister, the Kyrgyz parliamentary majority coalition decided on Tuesday to nominate Sooronbay Jeenbekov, first deputy head of the presidential office, as prime minister.
Members of the parliament will vote on Thursday to approve the nomination as well as to elect a new speaker.
Asylbek Jeenbekov has been speaker of the parliament since 2011, four years before Sariyev was sworn in as prime minister.
Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has accepted the resignation of Sariyev and his cabinet. Endi
