Vietnam secures one more Olympic fencing berth

Nguyen Thi Le Dung, dubbed Vietnam' s queen of saber, has become the third Vietnamese fencer to have qualify for the the Rio Olympics, the Vietnam Olympic Committee said Wednesday.

At the Asia and Oceania fencing qualification tournament on April 12, Nguyen Thi Le Dung, who has partaken in Vietnamese and international fencing competitions for the past 13 years, made a hard-won victory over her opponent in the final game in the women' s saber event. One day earlier, two of her compatriots won two fencing berths in the Rio Olympic Games.

To date, Vietnam has secured 12 slots at the 2016 Olympics, including three in weightlifting, two in shooting, one in swimming, two in wrestling, one in walk racing and three in fencing competitions. Endit
