Former Slovak FinMin rejects offer to be member of Ukrainian gov't

Former Slovak finance minister Ivan Miklos turned down an offer to become Ukrainian deputy prime minister and finance minister on Tuesday, according to a press announcement from the former minister.

"The reason for my decision was that if I had accepted this offer, I would have lost my Slovak citizenship. This is just as sensitive a matter for me as it is for Ukraine to have a minister of non-Ukrainian citizenship," Miklos explained on Tuesday.

After Miklos rejected the offer, Ukrainian Parliamentary Chairman Volodymyr Groysman offered him another post as leader of a team of advisors should he become the new Ukrainian prime minister. Miklos accepted.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk resigned from his post on Sunday and expressed his support for Groysman. Endit
