Xinhua, April 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou on Monday signed a decree appointing members of his new government after his re-election on March 20, 2016.

The new government that will be led by Prime Minister Brigi Rafini who was equally re-appointed to the position, will have 38 ministers who include seven women.

The prime minister who was re-appointed by Issoufou shortly after the latter's swearing in, took a fresh oath of office last Tuesday in the capital Niamey.

Rafini has vast experience in Niger's politics. Born in 1953 in the Far North region of Agadez, over 1,500 km north of Niamey, the prime minister is a graduate of both the International Institute of Public Administration and the Paris National Administration School.

He held several positions in the interior of the country, before entering government in 1987 as secretary of state in the interior ministry. Enditem
