China's stocks closed lower on Tuesday, dragged down by financial and property shares.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went down 0.34 percent to 3,023.65 points. The smaller Shenzhen index closed 0.72 percent lower at 10,533.41 points.

Total turnover on the two bourses dropped 80 billion yuan (12.38 billion U.S. dollars) to 582.4 billion yuan from the previous trading day.

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd., the nation's biggest listed lender, dropped 0.23 percent to 4.28 yuan per share. China Construction Bank Corp., the nation's second-largest bank, shrank 0.42 percent to 4.78 yuan per share.

Poly Real Estate Group Co., a leading property developer, shrank 1.28 percent to 9.24 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.84 percent to close at 2,264.02 points. Endi
