Uruguayan gov't pushes law against gender-based violence

The Uruguayan government on Monday presented a draft bill to parliament in a bid to offer a comprehensive response to gender-based violence.

The text, approved by the Cabinet, seeks to guarantee women a life free from violence, said Marina Arismendi, minister for social development.

Almost seven out of 10 Uruguayan women over the age of 15 have said they have experienced gender-based violence. Endi
