Sofia Airport sees positive results in Q1

Sofia Airport reported positive results in the first quarter of 2016 thanks mainly to the increase in international traffic, the airport said in a statement on Monday.

A total of 980,882 passengers passed through Sofia Airport from January to March this year, a 13-percent increase compared to the same period of 2015, the statement said.

The number of passengers on scheduled international flights increased 15 percent and accounted for 93 percent of the total passenger flow at the airport, the data showed.

Meanwhile, since the beginning of the year, a total of 10,756 aircraft landed and took off from Sofia Airport, a 9.4-percent increase on an annual basis, with a 12-percent growth in international flights, the statement said.

Sofia Airport is the largest airport in Bulgaria. In 2015, the airport serviced a total of 44,416 aircraft and 4,064,755 passengers, and processed 16,740 tonnes of freight, official data show. Endit
