The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.
-- The number of cholera cases in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, has risen to 707 since the waterborne disease broke out in February this year.
Lusaka Provincial Medical Officer Kennedy Malama said new cases have continued to be recorded at cholera treatment centers that have been established in areas of the city affected by the disease.
The official, however, expressed optimism that the disease will be contained.
Only four deaths have so far been recorded, according to Ministry of Health figures. (ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL)
-- The quality of baby food sold on the Zambian market had failed to adhere to laid down regulations that govern the distribution of baby foods based on nutritional quality.
Civil Society Organization Scaling Up Nutrition Alliance, a local lobby group involved in promoting good nutrition, said despite the country having good regulations to ensure the quality of imported baby foods, there were great hindrances in management of the system to guarantee value.
Nelly Phiri, the organization's program officer said most traders of baby foods had failed to adhere to laid down regulations that governed the distribution of baby foods based on nutritional quality. (DAILY NATION) Endit
