Chinese FM arrives in Myanmar for visit

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived here Tuesday on his first visit to Myanmar days after the new government took office on March 30.

Wang is also the first foreign country's minister to come to the Southeast Asian nation after the new government led by President U Htin Kyaw was sworn in.

The Chinese top diplomat was greeted at the airport by Director-General of Political Affairs of the Myanmar Foreign Ministry U Kyaw Zeya, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang and embassy officials.

Wang is scheduled to meet with his Myanmar counterpart Aung San Suu Kyi at the Myanmar Foreign Ministry. Endit
