Senegalese forward Demba Ba made three goals to give Shanghai Greenland the first victory this season by defeating Shijiazhuang Ever Bright 3-1 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.

Ba broke the deadlock in the 5th minute with a powerful shot. Although he missed a penalty in the 29th minute, the former Chelsea player made it up before the half time whistle by a shot in close range.

Mao Jianqing pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 49th minute, but Ba terminated the game's suspense nine minutes later with a flip shot.

Ba joined in Greenland from Turkish first division league club Besiktas last summer. The 31-year-old played for Chelsea from 2013 to 2014, where he scored seven goals in 27 appearances in the English Premier League.

As one of the title favorites, Greenland climbed to the 5th place on the standings after the third round.

Another CSL side Changchun Yatai drew 4-4 with Tianjin Teda on the same day, Yatai's striker Marcelo Moreno completed a hat trick in the game. Yatai is on the bottom of the league. Endit
