The following are highlights of South Africa's major media outlets on Saturday:

-- President Jacob Zuma apologizes to nation over Nkandla, but dodges blame.

He concedes many matters could have been handled differently in the scandal over the estimated R246m of taxpayer cash being spent on his Nkandla homestead. (Business Day).

-- The ANC's top leaders have come out to bat for President Jacob Zuma following the Constitutional Court finding that he had breached the Constitution earlier this week.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe said in a live television address on Friday night that Zuma was correct to apologize over the matter and did not believe any drastic action was needed against him. (Independent Saturday).

-- President Jacob Zuma has convinced the ANC that there was no intention on his part to act inconsistent with the Constitution, ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe says.

Speaking at a media briefing following the party's top-six meeting Friday evening, Mantashe said "it was important that Zuma humbled himself and apologized to the nation." (City Press) Enditem
