Xinhua, April 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two soldiers of the Turkish security forces were killed and six others wounded in a bomb attack staged by the militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) on Friday, private Dogan news agency reported,

The hand-made bomb exploded when a military vehicle carrying journalists was passing through in Nusaybin town of Mardin province bordering Syria early Friday morning, leaving eight people wounded on the scene, according to the report.

One wounded soldier died on the way to the Nusaybin State Hospital and another wounded soldier died later in hospital, said the report.

Meanwhile, two children were killed while they were playing with an object that they found in the street in Cizre town of Sirnak province in southeastern Turkey on Thursday, private Dogan news agency reported on Friday.

A two-year ceasefire between the government and the PKK collapsed in July last year.

Turkish security forces have launched a major campaign against the group in the southeast of the country. The government has declared curfew in several districts of Diyarbakir province.

More than 300 members of Turkish security forces and thousands of PKK members have been killed since last July in confrontations inside Turkey and in northern Iraq.

The PKK, which has been waging a separatist war against Turkey since 1984, is listed as terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. Endit
