Nigerian public offices record 3,599 cyber attacks in 10 months

The Nigerian government on Wednesday said various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the country recorded about 3,599 cyber crime attempts between April 2015 and February this year.

Vincent Olatunji, Acting Director-General (D-G), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) who disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja said, 2,500 of such attempts were successful but quickly restrained.

"It is important to note that internet usage in Nigeria is increasing," he added.

According to him, more than 90 million people are regular internet users, and e-commerce and online transaction are running into billions of naira daily.

He assured that the agency would continue to protect the nation's cyber space from cyber attacks. Endit
