Chinese President Xi Jinping said here Wednesday that China and the Czech Republic should establish a sense of community of common destiny to jointly address the challenges in global economy and realize common development through strengthened cooperation and coordination.
With a broad base of overlapping interests, the two countries should enhance coordination, strengthen the linkage of their advantages, innovate on the cooperation model and give full play to their complementarity, Xi said when addressing the China-Czech Economic Roundtable. (Czech-China)

NAY PYI TAW -- Chairperson of Myanmar's ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), Aung San Suu Kyi, was appointed on Wednesday as the country's new minister of foreign affairs, concurrently holding three other portfolios in the new government led by President-elect U Htin Kyaw.

NEW DELHI -- At least seven Indian security forces personnel were killed in a landmine blast triggered by left-wing Naxalite rebels in the central state of Chhattisgarh Wednesday, a senior police official said.
"The incident happened in Malewada forest near the state's Dantewada district, 350 km from state capital Raipur when a contingent of the para-military Central Reserve Police Force were travelling in a convoy of civilian vehicles," he said on condition of anonymity. (India-Blast-Naxalites)

BRUSSELS -- The European Commission on Wednesday adopted a 30-million-euro (34.06 million U.S. dollar) program to provide 350,000 Syrian children with drinking milk, as part of aid provided by the European Union (EU) for those who have been affected by the crisis in Syria.
"We must remain committed to helping the most vulnerable victims of the conflict. This additional support will go to humanitarian partner organizations working in the country," said EU commissioner for humanitarian aid and crisis management, Christos Stylianides. (EU-Milk-Syrian Children)

LUSAKA -- A total of 210 road traffic accidents were recorded on Zambian roads during the long Ester holiday, the police said on Wednesday.
Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga however said the figures recorded this year were a reduction compared to last year when 291 accidents were recorded during the same period, representing a 31 percent reduction. (Zambia-Society)

BAMAKO -- The Global Fund Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has agreed to give Mali 100 billion CFA Francs (over 170 million U.S. dollars) to promote prevention and fight against HIV/AIDS, an official source said Tuesday.
