Canada coach Benito Floro said on Monday it is possible to defeat Mexico in the game to be played next Tuesday as part of the regional qualifying tournament for Russia 2018 World Cup, Mexican media reported.
"Football is a game and there is no impossible mission. It will be a great experience and we will seek to win the game," Floro was quoted by local media when arriving in Mexico, where he led the local club Monterrey between 1999 and 2001.
Last Friday, Mexico defeated Canada 3-0 in the first leg. The return match of the CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football) Qualifying Tournament will be held tomorrow at Mexico City's Azteca Stadium.
Canada has only one victory, one draw, one defeat and four points in CONCACAF's Group A, while Mexico has a perfect record with three won matches and nine points, two more than El Salvador and three more than Honduras.
"The other day we fought and had goal opportunities but we made mistakes and we paid a heavy price because Mexico took advantage," said Floro.
Despite this, Floro said he is not worried to face Mexico on their turf. He has told the players to keep concentrated and avoid repeating the same mistakes.
The Tuesday match might give Mexico a ticket for the finals of CONCACAF tournament. But if Canada wins, the next two games of Group A will become more interesting. Enditem
