Honduras' former president Rafael Callejas on Monday entered a plea of guilty for the accusations related to world soccer's governing body FIFA bribery scandal, international media reported.

According to Cuban news agency Prensa Latina, Callejas, who also headed the Honduran Football Federation from 2002 until August 2015, pled guilty before a United States' federal judge from a court in Brooklyn, New York.

"I know it was wrong to ask and accept secret briberies," said the 72-year-old former president of Honduras (1990-1994) to Judge Robert Levy.

Judgement will be given on Aug. 5. According to the law, each accusation, one for criminal association and electronic fraud, has a maximum jail sentence of 20 years.

Callejas is one of the 42 individuals and entities accused in an investigation held for a total of 200 million U.S.-dollar briberies to obtain broadcasting rights of FIFA games and tournaments. Enditem
