Isco in good shape ahead of Clasico showdown

Xinhua, March 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

It has been a disappointing season for Real Madrid midfielder Isco, who despite his 33 first team appearances this season, has lost his condition as first choice for coach Zinedine Zidane.

That has seen other clubs take an interest in the Malaga born midfielder with the Premier League and Italy' s Serie A leaders, Juventus touted as possible destinations.

However, speaking on Spanish radio station, Cadena Cope on Monday, Isco ruled out a move to Juventus.

"I am very happy at Real Madrid. I want to see out the two years I have left on my contract," he said.

Isco looked ahead to the big game this coming weekend which sees Real Madrid visit traditional rivals, FC Barcelona in the game which has become known as the 'Clasico' in recent years.

Real Madrid travel to Barcelona 10 points behind Barca, who beat them 4-0 in the first meeting between the two sides earlier in the campaign.

"We have to vindicate ourselves on Saturday against Barcelona after the bad impression we left against them in the Bernabeu," said Isco, who added he was "in top condition."

"I have not played much and I am not tired and if we can win the Clasico it would be a huge morale boost for us," he continued.

Isco will celebrate his 24th birthday in April and already has a long career for one so young, although he admits this has been one of his toughest seasons.

"It has been a very difficult season, but I don' t think it is either my fault or that of James (Rodriguez). I don' t feel as if I am being made responsible," said Isco, who nevertheless had a warning for Real Madrid' s rivals.

"Nobody should write us off just yet; we are still alive and we have a side that can win the Champions League," he concluded. Endit
