Xinhua, March 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indonesia assigned 11 singles and doubles players to vie in all five events in the upcoming India Open Super Series badminton championship scheduled to be held in New Delhi from March 29 to April 3.

Players lined up in Indonesian squad for the tournament providing total rewards of 300,000 U.S. Dollars were Sonny Dwi Kuncoro and Tommy Sugiarto in men' s singles, Maria Febe Kusumastuti and Linda Wenifanetri in women' s singles, according to the list released by an official badminton tournament website on Monday.

In men' s doubles, Indonesia sends 2 pairings of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi.

Two women' s doubles pairs are Greysa Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari as the hopeful seeding and Anggia Shitta Awanda/Mahadewi Istirani for the non-seeding pairing.

In mixed doubles, Indonesia sends two top-seeding players Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir and Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto. Besides that, another pairing, Riky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili, was also assigned to take on their opponents in mixed doubles. The latest pairing was last seen in China Open last year.

Praveen and Debby seized the mixed doubles championship of the recent 2016 All England badminton tournament after they trashed their Danish opponents Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christina Pedersen in the final.

India Open is one of the last three badminton super series tournament prior to the closing of points gathering for players to qualify them for Rio Olympic Games scheduled in August this year.

The other two remaining badminton super series championships for Rio 2016 qualifications are 2016 Malaysia Open and 2016 Singapore Open respectively. Endit
