Myanmar regional parliaments approve appointment of chief ministers

Myanmar region or state parliaments Monday initially agreed to the assignment of four new chief ministers for four respective regions and states out of 14, according to local parliament sources.

The four newly-appointed region or state chief ministers, proposed by President-elect U Htin Kyaw, are U Phyo Min Thein for Yangon Region, Dr. Lin Htut for Shan State, U Mann Johnny for Ayeyawaddy Region, Dr. Lei Lei Maw for Tanintheryi Region.

All the appointed region or state chief ministers are members of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), led by Aung San Suu Kyi.

Approval of chief ministers for the remaining regions and states are expected to be announced later. Endit
