Kenyans sweep half marathon world titles

Kenyan athletes won both men's and women's races at the world half marathon championships here on Saturday.

Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor won the men's race in 59.10 minutes while his compatriot Bedan Karoki Muchiri was second in 59.36.

Britain's Mo Farah, a double Olympic gold medalist and four-time world champion, overcame a fall at the starting line to finish third in 59.59.

In the women's race, Kenyans finished 1-2-3 with Peres Jechirchir holding off pre-race favourite Cynthia Limo to claim the gold medal.

Jechirchir won the race in one hour 7 minutes 31 seconds, beating the season leader Limo by three seconds.

Mary Ngugi finished third another 20 seconds behind. Enditem
