United States colt Lani, owned by Japan's Ms. Yoko Maeda, won the 1,900m race of the annual Dubai World Cup here on Saturday in 1 minute and 58.41 seconds, cashing in 1.2 million U.S. dollars prize money.

The three-year-old Lani won the UAE derby on dirt in a dramatic head on head finishing before Polar River from the United States and Japan's Yu Change. The Maeda team cashed in 1.2 million dollars prize money.

"Lani has plenty of scope and made it at a tight finish that is why we feel specially honoured to win here at the Dubai World Cup," said Lani's trainer Mikio Matsunaga. Enditem
