French consumers more pessimist in March

Xinhua, March 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

France's consumer confidence index about the economic and financial situation decreased by one point in March from a month earlier to 94, the lowest level since August 2015, the national statistics bureau Insee said on Friday.

Household appreciation for their past financial balance was stable. However, "their expectations have worsened again" with the index losing four points, hitting a one-year low, Insee figures showed.

French consumers also expressed less optimism about their past and future economic situation in March compared with the opinion in February. Both indicators decreased by one point and four points respectively and remained below the long-term average.

As for the unemployment rate, fewer families expected a rise in unemployment while a rise in inflation was anticipated, according to the report. Endit
