Slovenia to contribute 5.23 mln euros for refugees in Turkey

Xinhua, March 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Slovenia is to contribute 5.23 million euros (5.85 million U.S. dollars) to the EU's 3-billion-euro refugee facility for Turkey, the government announced after its session on Thursday.

The facility was agreed at the EU's November summit with Turkey and involves 1 billion euros from the EU budget and 2 billion euros in voluntary contributions by member states calculated on the basis of their gross national income share.

Slovenia's share according to this is 0.26 percent, which means a contribution of 5.23 million euros, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported quoting government Communication Office.

At the EU-Turkey summit last week, European leaders committed to speeding up the payment of the agreed 3 billion euros to Turkey and to deciding on a potential extra 3 billion euros if Turkey's commitments produce the desired results. Enditem
