Suicide bomber killed in Algeria's Tizi Ouzou

Xinhua, March 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Algerian forces on Thursday killed an attempted suicide bomber in the province of Tizi Ouzou, some 130 km eastern Algiers, according to a statement of the Defense Ministry.

The killed terrorist was holding an explosive belt, plotting to commit a suicide attack, the source claimed.

He was tracked down earlier on Thursday and killed when he tried to escape the operation led by army troops in the upper woods of Maatkas locality, in southern Tizi Ouzou.

A few militants affiliated to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and the recently established group of Caliphate Soldiers are still hiding in the woods of central provinces, including Bouira, Boumerdes and Tizi Ouzou on the east of the capital city. Endit
