Xinhua, March 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Munich Airport announced on Wednesday that it achieved a record earnings after taxes of 135 million euros (151.2 million U.S. dollars) in the past year.

"This is the best result in the history of our company. It is also very good news for the neighboring communities. They are going to receive about 35 million euros in business taxes for 2015, 7 million euros more than in 2014," CEO of Munich Airport Michael Kerkloh said on the annual press conference.

According to statistics published by the Bavarian hub, a total of 41 million travelers used Munich Airport as a starting point, destination or stopover in 2015, more than ever before, representing an increase of 1.3 million passengers.

In addition, the cargo tonnage was up by about 9 percent to a new record level of over 336,000 tons, and the number of aircraft movements increased by about 1 percent to approximately 380,000.

Munich Airport was voted as Europe's Best Airport and ranked the third place of world's best airports. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollars) Endit
